Seattle Seahawks (0-1) vs. Green Bay Packers (1-0)
This is a match up of last season NFC title game when the Packers let a chance to get to the Super Bowl slip through their fingers in Seattle. Now back in Green Bay the Packers are, not surprisingly, the betting favorite facing a Seahawks’ team that was shocked in their season opener.
Last season the Seahawks had the best defense in the NFL. However, in their opener that defense gave up 34 points in the 34-31 OT loss to the St. Louis Rams. Seattle S Kam Chancellor continues his holdout and their secondary or “Legion of Boom” gave up nearly 300 passing yards and 8 pass plays over 20 yards.
Last season the Seahawks beat the Packers twice, but both games were in the Seattle including the NFC title game.
In their opening games the Seahawks lost to the St. Louis Rams 34-31 in OT and the Packers beat the Chicago Bears 31-23.
The Seahawks are 0-1 ATS with an O/U record of 1-0 and the Packers are 1-0 ATS with an O?U record of 1-0.
Rodgers did not have a big game in terms of numbers in the win over Chicago passing for 189 yards, but he was 18/23 and had 3 TD. The loss of Jordy Nelson will hurt Green Bay this season, but in the Chicago win he spread the wealth and former Packers’ WR, who just signed with the team, had 51 receiving yards with 2 TD.
RB Eddie Lacy was also solid in the win over the Bears rushing for 85 yards and averaging 4.7 yards per carry. He has to be a major concern for Seattle and last season Green Bay rushed for 135 yards in the conference championship game.
Russell Wilson was sacked 6 times in the loss to the Rams and his offensive line has to do a better job of protecting him. In the Rams game he did play pretty well when he was upright going 32/41 for 251 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. His new target in TE Jimmy Graham caught Wilson’s lone TD pass in the game and overall he had 51 receiving yards.
Marshawn Lynch rushed for 73 yards against the Rams and last season he combined to rush for 267 yards with 3 TD in the 2 games against the Packers. In the Chicago win the Green Bay run defense gave up 189 yards on the ground, so Lynch may be the player they really have to worry about.
The Seahawks are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 road games, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss, and they have an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.
The Packers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, 33-16-2 ATS in their last 51 home games, and they have an Over record of 7-2 in their last 9 home games.
The Packers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 home games against the Seahawks.
In the last 7 games between these 2 teams the Over record is 5-1-1.

We just don’t trust the Seattle defense. Are they as bad as they looked against the Rams last week? That’s open for debate. They faced Nick Foles and the third string running back who would struggle to make the practice roster on most teams. They travel again to take on the Packers who are looking for revenge for their playoff loss to the Seahawks last season. The hook bothers us, but not enough for us to fade the visitor.
