San Francisco Giants vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Total Pick

Time: 7:05 PM EST Monday May 5, 2014 ROOT

Location: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Pittsburgh Pirates host the San Francisco Giants in a National League match up.

In their last games: The Giants beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1 and the Pirates lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2.

In their win over the Braves San Francisco’s Madison Bumgarner went 6 innings striking out 9 and only giving up 1 earned run and Brando Crawford hit 2 HR.

In their loss to the Blue Jays the Pirates only managed 4 hits and they gave up 11 including a grand slam.

This is the first match up of these 2 teams this season.

Baseball dimeline betting is the only way to go if you want to profit betting MLB games. Why risk $135 to win $100 when you can risk $130? Why get paid $125 for a winner when a winning bet on the very same game can give you $130?

Here are some additional handicapping angles to ponder:

In the last 8 games between these 2 teams the total has gone Over 6 times.

The Pirates are 4-1 in their last 5 home games against the Giants.

The Giants are 7-1 in Yusmerio Petit’s last 8 starts.

The Pirates are 1-4 in Jeff Locke’s last 5 home starts.

Total Pick:

The Giants didn’t light it up against the Braves, but that is one tough rotation so they can be excused for their low offensive output in that series. Tonight should be an easier go for them with Jeff Locke making his first major league start of the season. Locke had a poor 2nd half of 2013 and didn’t pitch well enough to make the team in spring training. He hasn’t impressed in the minors this season with 5.04 ERA at Triple-A Indianapolis. The Giants send reliever Yusmeiro Petit out to make his second straight start. He looked decent in his opener pitching 6 shutout innings, but his 7 starts in 2013 were a mixed bag. Pittsburgh tore up the Jays’ struggling bullpen, so I’m not sure if that signals a turnaround or not, but they may not need to put up many to get this over the today’s total line.
Take Over 7 (-115).
