The Giants didn’t light it up against the Braves, but that is one tough rotation so they can be excused for their low offensive output in that series. Tonight should be an easier go for them with Jeff Locke making his first major league start of the season. Locke had a poor 2nd half of 2013 and didn’t pitch well enough to make the team in spring training. He hasn’t impressed in the minors this season with 5.04 ERA at Triple-A Indianapolis. The Giants send reliever Yusmeiro Petit out to make his second straight start. He looked decent in his opener pitching 6 shutout innings, but his 7 starts in 2013 were a mixed bag. Pittsburgh tore up the Jays’ struggling bullpen, so I’m not sure if that signals a turnaround or not, but they may not need to put up many to get this over the today’s total line.
Take Over 7 (-115).
