Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) vs. Indianapolis Colts (0-1)
The Eagles won their opening game despite losing 2 offensive linemen in the process and trailing 17-0 at halftime. However, they came back big and beat the Jacksonville Jaguars at home and now are 3-point betting underdogs facing the Colts.
The Colts have not faced the Eagles at home since the 2006 season when a guy named Payton Manning was their QB.
Andrew Luck, who had a good game in the season opener, leads the Colts but the defense and the rushing game struggled. Luck may have to do it all this season, as the more games go by it looks as if Indy made a terrible trade getting Trent Richardson last year from the Browns for a first round draft pick.
In their last games the Eagles beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-17 and the Colts lost to the Denver Broncos 31-24.
The Colts are 1-0 ATS with an Over/Under record of 1-0 and the Eagles are 1-0 ATS with an Over/Under record of 1-0.
This is the first home game of the season for the Colts and the first road game for the Eagles.
Luck passed for 370 yards with 2 TD and 2 INT in the loss to the Broncos and he had to air it out so much since the team only rushed for a grand total of 54 yards in the game. He has a decent WR corps led by Reggie Wayne, but he has to get the other WR’s of T.Y. Hilton and Hakeem Nicks more involved. The Eagles’ pass defense played much better in the 2nd half against Jacksonville, but still allowed Chad Henne to pass for266 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT.
The Eagles had 3 sacks last week against Jax and it is key that they get to Luck in the pocket.
The more Trent Richardson plays the more he looks like a bust. He only had 6 carries for 20 yards in the Broncos game and in this game will be facing a Philly run D that only gave up 64 rushing yards in the win over the Jaguars.
Nick Foles was terrible in the first half last week, but settled down tossing 2 TD passes in the 2nd half and eventually passing for 322 yards. The Colts and their suspect pass D will face WR Jeremy Maclin and TE Zach Ertz, who each averaged over 24 yards per catch last week.
LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles combined for 145 rushing yards last week and Indy will have their hands full with this duo. Their run defense was decent in the Denver loss giving up just over 100 yards on the ground.
Indy is still without last season’s sack leader in Robert Mathis, but at least their pass rush will face a banged up Philadelphia offensive line that gave up 5 sacks against the Jaguars.
The Eagles are 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games in September, 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game, and they have an Over record of 7-2 in their last 9 road games.
The Colts are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall, and they have an Over record of 9-4 in their last 13 games.

It appears that the Eagles have lucked out facing a Colts team that on paper doesn’t appear to have the parts to take advantage of the Eagles makeshift offensive line. That has us looking at the over here. Philadelphia can score at will if they can get decent line play and their defense was decent for most of the second half last season but can be beat by top flight QB’s. Both teams in the mid twenties gets close to the total and one in the 30’s has us cashing at the betting windows.
