- Updated: February 7, 2015
The Scarlet Knights play host to the Buckeyes at Louis Brown Athletic Center, Piscataway, New Jersey on Sunday, February 8, 2015;
tip-off time is at 5:30 PM EST.
Money Line: Off
This will be the first meeting of these two teams this season. Ohio State is off to an impressive start on the season with a 17-6 record but hasn’t been a bettor’s best friend with a 10-11-1 mark against the spread. They are averaging a solid 79 points per game and allowing a very low 61.5 PPG for a scoring differential of 17.5point per game.
The Scarlet Knights are a mere 10-14 straight up on the season but are posting near identical ATS numbers as their opponent going 10-11 against the betting line. Unfortunately Rutgers is only managing to score an average of 58.9 points per game while they have allowed their opponents to score 63.9 PPG for a differential of 5 points per match-up.
Ohio State has won 3 of its last 5 games with wins against Northwestern, Indiana and Maryland and losses against Iowa and Purdue. The loss against the Boilermakers was crushing losing 60-58 in the last few seconds of the game. The Buckeyes will be looking to rebound in a big way against the Scarlet Knights.
On the other side of the court Rutgers who have lost their last 7 games tasting defeat against Big Ten foes Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, Penn, Michigan State, Indiana and Illinois will be looking for some form of redemption. The Scarlet Knights are only 3-7 against the spread at home but fortunately for them the Buckeyes are posting only 1-5-1 against the spread on the road.

It’s difficult to have confidence in taking a position on a Rutgers team that is mired in a 7-game losing streak and more importantly has just one point spread cover in their last 5 games. However, that’s where I find myself today. Their opponent Ohio State is one of the poorer road clubs with a 1-9-1 against the betting line mark in its last 11 lined road games. The key stat here is that the Scarlet Knights rarely get blown out at home losing only one game by more than the allotted spread on this game in their last seven as hosts.
