C.C. Sabathia is coming off his worst start of the season when he only lasted 2 innings and gave up 6 earned runs in a 15-4 loss to the Texas Rangers. The Yankees had won 2 straight with him on the mound before that game. Sabathia has been much better on the road this season with an ERA of 3.48 while at home he has an ERA of 11.77. He has lost his last 2 starts against the A’s. which came in 2013. Overall, the Yankees are 3-9 in Sabathia’s last 12 starts. Kendall Graveman is coming off a solid start where he only gave up 3 hits and no earned runs in 6 innings in a 5-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He was called up from the minors just before the Tampa Bay game and in his previous 4 starts he was 1-2 with an ERA of 8.27. Tonight will be Graveman’s first career start against the Yankees.

This one is a tough call, as the Yankees are hot and facing a struggling A’s team, but Sabathia was shelled in his last outing. I think he will struggle again and the A’s will win and take the first game of this series.

Take the A’S
