New York Giants (1-2) vs. Washington Redskins (1-2)
Both the Redskins and Giants are 1-2 on the young season and are chasing the 3-0 Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East. Washington QB Kirk Cousins has played great since taking over for the injured Robert Griffin III and he lit up the Eagles last week, but the defense struggled and he threw a late pick, which iced the game for Philly.
There were a lot of questions in New York after the Giants began the season 0-2, especially having to do with QB Eli Manning. However, he was great in the Giants’ last game where they got their first win of the season and handed the Houston Texans their first loss.
In their last games the Giants beat the Houston Texans 30-17 and the Redskins lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 37-34.
The Giants are 1-2 ATS with an Over/Under record of 2-1 and the Redskins are 2-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 2-1.
This season the Redskins are 1-0 at home and the Giants are 0-1 on the road.
Last season the Giants beat the Redskins twice including at home in the season finale beating them 20-6.
Cousins passed for 427 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT in the Eagles loss and his offensive line was solid, as they did not give up a single sack. He has a lot of weapons at his disposal and a great WR duo in DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon. The Giants’ pass defense, which ranks 22nd in the league, has struggled this season, but they did have 3 picks in the Texans game and their pass rush had 2 sacks.
The Giants played solid run defense last week, but they did not have to face Adrian Foster, who did not play because of a hamstring injury. This week they have to play well since the Skins have a solid RB duo in Roy Helu and Alfred Morris, who did not have a great game against the Eagles with 77 yards averaging 3.3 yards per carry.
The New York offense came alive in the win over Houston with Manning passing for 234 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT and Rashad Jennings rushing for a career high 176 yards. Victor Cruz is the main WR the Skins have to worry about and he is a big play guy that the Skins have to keep from doing just that.
While the Redskins did give up 325 passing yards last week to the Eagles their run defense was great holding the Eagles to only 54 rushing yards.
The Washington pass rush will be key in this game and after registering a team record 10 in the win over the Jaguars a couple of weeks back they did not get one sack last week.
The Giants are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a S.U. win, and they have an Under record of 14-5 in their last 19 road games.
The Redskins are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win, 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game, and they have an Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
The underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 games between these 2 teams.
In the last 5 games between these 2 teams the total has gone Under every time.

We liked the way Washington played in Week 3 giving the Eagles all they could handle and then some in their 37-34 loss. The game was like a playoff game with the two teams really taking it to each other. That appears to have taken a toll on the Redskins who are really beat up heading into this game. The Giants offense is starting to take shape with a total of 419 yards last week against Houston and come into this game a lot healthier than Washington. The line opened at 6 and has been bet down to 3.5 at some sportsbooks and we believe that the steam is the way to go here. New York won both games last season and we believe with the short week and Manning’s progression in the offense will have the Giants in this throughout and within the point spread.
