2014 National League Pennant Odds
- Updated: May 29, 2014
The Dodgers and the Cardinals have the lowest odds to win the NL Pennant at Bovada Sportsbook, even though each team is not in first place in their respective division.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers are in 3rd place in the NL West, but they recently got Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw back from the DL. L.A is a balanced team ranking 9th in runs scored and 11th in team ERA. Zach Greinke has been great this season ranking 2nd in the NL in wins and 5th in ERA. The Dodgers have the talent, but need to stay healthy and have a solid 2nd half.
St Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals have caught fire as of late and now are only 1.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central. The pitching is the reason they are winning ranking 6th in team ERA and Adam Wainwright has the most wins in the NL and has the 2nd best ERA. However, the offense only ranks 21st in runs and they could use another big bat in the middle of the lineup.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants lead the NL West and they have the best record in the Majors. Their staff ranks 3rd in team ERA with Madison Bumgarner having a solid season and Tim Hudson has been a great addition. Matt Cain has struggled and Tim Lincecum has an ERA over 4.50. Unlike the last several seasons the offense is strong ranking 10th in runs.
The Nationals are in 3rd place in the NL East and while their pitching has been great, ranking 5th in team ERA, their offense only ranks 18th in runs scored. Washington has been decimated by injuries so far this season and their offense will be much better since Bryce Harper and Adam LaRoche are back.
The Braves have been in first place in the NL East for most of the season and the main reason is their pitching, which has the best ERA in the Majors. However, while Justin Upton is among the league leaders in HR and the Braves’ offense only ranks 29th in runs.
Carlos Gomez is having a great season and Ryan Braun has bounced back and while these 2 guys lead the decent offense the Brewers are winning and in first place in the NL Central because of their pitching. Milwaukee ranks 7th in team ERA.
The Rockies sit in 3rd place in the NL West and the main reason they are winning is their dynamic offense, which ranks first in the Majors in runs, team batting average, and slugging percentage. However, can their pitching hold up in the playoffs? They only rank 21st in team ERA.
