Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans Free Pick
- Updated: December 29, 2015
The 5-10 Jacksonville Jaguars head into the 8-7 Houston Texans Sunday Jan 3, 2015 on the turf of NRG Stadium. Kick off time is scheduled for 1:00PM ET
Point Spread: Houston -5.5
Total Line: n/a
Jacksonville fell out of playoff contention with a 38-27 loss to New Orleans last week. They trailed 24-0 as they were clearly down to start the game knowing their postseason hopes had been dashed. QB Blake Bortles finished 27-35 for 368 yards, 4 TDs and 2 picks. WRs Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns both topped the century mark in receiving yardage and combined to go 14-257-3. The defense was abused with regularity, allowing 135 rushing yards and 412 passing yards to a QB playing on an injured foot.
Houston took another step closer to winning the division with a 34-6 blowout win over Tennessee on Sunday. QB Brandon Weeden (the 4th starting QB the Texans have used this year) had a decent game as he completed 15-24 for 200 yards and 2 TDs. He also ran in a score. WR DeAndre Hopkins continued to produce no matter whom is under center as he caught 7 passes for 117 yards and a TD. The defense forced 4 TOs and held the Titans to 30 yards rushing. P Shane Lechler contributed by averaging 52.3 yards on 6 punts.

Free NFL Pick
The Houston Texans are expecting the return of Brian Hoyer for this game and with him at the helm we should see an increase in scoring. He’ll be facing a Jags defense that may be getting worse as the season goes along and Hoyer feasted on this secondary back in Week 6 when he threw for a season high 293 yards. The Texans will also have their hands full with Jacksonville QB Blake Bortles who lit them up for 331 passing yards in their last meeting. Not many books have posted a line on this match, but expect a number in the mid 40’s and anything sub 50 will have me laying down on the total.
