The Reds’ Mat Latos will be making his first start of the season tonight against the Brewers. He claims he is close to 100%, but admits that it will take some innings to shake off the rust. He’s not the only player that should bolster the roster. Joey Votto was back in the lineup last night after missing 23 games and while he didn’t tear the cover off of the ball in his first game back, he did get an RBI in their 6-5 win. The inconsistent Yovani Gollardo gets the start for the Brewers bringing his 5.05 night game ERA to the mound. A slew of players on the Reds have had success against Gollardo including Ryan Ludwick, Jay Bruce, Todd Frazier and Brandon Phillips all with career batting averages of .350 or better, so this may not be the game for him to improve on his numbers. We do get under trending home plate umpire Brian O’Nora to keep me from over betting this, but the value is still there for a play on the total.
